Staying at the Girdwood Guest House.  A B&B.  What are the chances of meeting a Saint Rose alum?  The inn keeper graduated from the Lally School of Education (probably not called that) with a teaching degree for social studies in the 70's.  As I continually remind people who are fond of calling the region we live in "smallbany" that is really an untrue assertion.  It's a small world (after all).

Things you can see easily in Alaska without really trying:

1.  Bald Eagles (and you can see them around the ADK too).

2.  Snow capped mountains.

We saw all of this along State Route 1 between Anchorage and Girdwood.
